About the exhibition
「やさしさ」をコンセプトに、新たな作品を制作しました。深い優しさや思いやりとは、遠い先のことを想像し、良い結果を導く行いを続けることだと思います。その時の快適さや容易さを超えて、相手を思って少し気持ちと時間をかける。それが、やさしさの本質ではないでしょうか。
yasashisa, kindness, is the starting point for this new body of work. For Yuri Kezuka, true yasashisa means looking beyond immediate comfort and acting in ways that lead to genuinely good outcomes: care extended forward in time, thoughtfulness on behalf of a future not yet arrived.
About Yuri Kezuka
Born in Tochigi Prefecture in 1984, Yuri Kezuka graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2009. She has since founded two ceramics studios, Uzumako (2012) and Darun (2016), and established Pia Le Art in 2015. Her work has been recognised at the Gyeonggi World Ceramic Biennale and Young Artists Japan, and exhibited across Asia and Europe.
Yuri makes ceramic sculptures of ordinary things: buckets, taps, apparel. Cast in glazed stoneware, these familiar objects become strange: useless, permanent, quietly funny, and are often counterpointed by bold geometric pieces. Her practice draws on the Japanese neo-Dada tradition of Thomasson, which catalogued the urban world's overlooked absurdities, and shares its sharp eye for what we stop seeing precisely because it surrounds us.
毛塚友梨は1984年、栃木県生まれ。2009年に東京藝術大学を卒業後、うづまこ陶芸教室（2012年）、ダルン陶芸教室（2016年）を設立し、2015年には株式会社ピアレアートを創設。京畿世界陶磁ビエンナーレやYOUNG ARTISTS JAPANでの受賞歴を持ち、アジア・ヨーロッパ各地で作品を発表してきた。
毛塚の作品は、バケツ、蛇口、衣類といった日常の何気ないものを陶器で再現した彫刻作品で知られる。釉薬をかけたストーンウェアで制作されたこれらの作品は、見慣れたはずのものを奇妙に、そして少しおかしく変容させる。機能を失い、永久に固定され、静かなユーモアをたたえながら、大胆な幾何学的作品がそのカウンターポイントとなることも多い。その実践はトマソンの流れを汲む日本のネオ・ダダの伝統に根ざし、都市に潜む見過ごされた不条理を鋭く捉える視点を共有する。あまりにも身近すぎて、もはや目に入らなくなったものへの、静かな問いかけとして。
