そんな風に育ってきた私が、食べるための器をつくる人になりました。

毎日使って飽きのこない、使う程に愛着のわくような、

普通で素朴な美しいかたちを、自分の手でどのように生み出すことができるのか。

そんなことを考えながら日々、作陶しています。

"To eat is to live, and to live is to eat."

Having grown up with this conviction, I became a maker of vessels — vessels made for eating. Each day, I work at the wheel asking myself: how can I bring into being, with my own hands, a form that is ordinary and unassuming in its beauty — one that never grows tired through daily use, but rather deepens in affection the more it is held?

人体や植物をモチーフにし、生きることの無力さや虚無感に寄り添いながら、観る者の記憶と存在について問いかける作品を制作しています。反復したドローイングから生まれる抽象的な造形と戯れながら制作しています。

Masashi Ishikawa
Working with the human body and plant life as motifs, I create works that sit alongside the powerlessness and sense of void inherent in being alive, and that pose questions to the viewer about memory and existence. My practice involves a kind of play with abstract forms that emerge from repeated, iterative drawing.
